Report 03/04/18 Clarity 3m Water Temp 6ft 4C

The cold north east wind still dominates the talk in the carpark but the anglers that brave the conditions are getting rewarded with good sport and good fish with a good percentage of overwintered fish getting caught.

Areas that are doing well include the gravel pit, Lochend up to bogle Knowe and Tod`s hole, sandy bay and in between the islands. Midge tips down to a Di5 are the lines to use. Flies to use include Candy or Cat boobies, Damsel nymphs, yellow dancer, Cormorants, Diawl bachs or buzzers under the bung.

Some notable catches include: Scottish Youth team 44 fish (all returned), Peter Edge and boat partner 30 fish all returned, Kenny Sichi and boat partner got 22 fish, Mr Penman 6 for 16lb 12oz plus 7 returned, Mr Lock and Mr Malkowsky from Stanley 8 fish for 23lb2oz.

Report Sent from Colin McGlone, Townhill Angling Club fished the lake yesterday (Sunday) and the quality of the fish caught were outstanding . I would say 75% of fish weighed in were overwintered. Biggest was 5lb 11oz and we had an average weight of just under 3lb superb.

Paul Clarke from Glasgow Caught 8 fish including this nice overwintered trout weighing 6lb 4oz on a floating line using a booby.
