Temperature at 6ft 14.5C and Secchi disk Water Clarity 4m

Clarity is still exceptional at 4m and top areas are Lochend Kate’s Brae and Malling Shore with buzzers (when it is calm).

In the Scottish Police National Championship on Thursday 17th May, Alan Hill from Ayrshire was top rod with an amazing 32 fish. His boat partner Roddy McIntyre caught 22 fish totaling 54 fish for the boat. The pair finished 1st and 2nd overall. They fished the static buzzer (4 white collared black buzzers  for Alan) all day in the Lochend/Kate’s Brae/Gravel Pit area. Champion Alan Hill is pictured left holding the Cup which was presented by Chief Superintendent Dave McLaren. The 68 rods caught and released 477 fish giving a rod average of 7 fish.

 

 

 

ROAD CLOSURE BETWEEN THE SMIDDY AT BLAIRDRUMMOND AND THORNHILL (A873) FROM MONDAY 21ST MAY FOR 2 WEEKS. Alternative routes via Arnprior or continue on A84 to the petrol station and turn left on B826 to Thornhill.

This fish is a late contender for fish of the month – caught on the 5th May by Derek Hesset from Ayrshire (pictured) at Reedy point?

In the Scottish Club Championships 10 teams were trying to qualify for the 3 places in the semi finals.
In first place were Flybox B (Neil Wyllie, Stewart McCormack (11 fish) and Steven Connan. 2nd place was Stirling Castle and 3rd placed was Ruthven FF. 2nd top Angler was Eric Fox of Edinburgh Civil Service with 9 fish. Neil and Eric go through to the Champion of Champions and are joined by Neil Wyllie, Stevie Planl and Keith McKenzie. 95 fish were caught.
In Heat 2 of the Menteith FARIO FLY BOAT LEAGUE  Craig Ingles on his first ever boat league heat was runaway winner with 20 fish, Craig a dog walker from Clydebank caught his fish on a yellow dancer and a Damsel, using a cortland blue line at Lochend. He wins a FARIO flybox with 20 FARIO flies of his choice. 2nd was last weeks winner Keir Hardie with 12 fish, he was also at Lochend using a 3" midge tip and a fab and buzzers. He wins a bottle of whisky from Andy Smith of Southside Decorators. 3rd was Craig’s boat partner Gil Farid with 11 trout.
