In the SPRA east outing 13 boats averaged 13 fish a boat (total catch was 71 fish for 147lbs with 95 returned. Jimmy McBride was top rod. I ask him what his tactics were….“ I wandered about trying to avoid the crowds and found fish everywhere I went. I fished a floater all day, with washing line set up. Diawls, cormorants and the ever faithful candy booby on the tail. When the sport slowed up I went on the dries and picked up some nice fish. My boat partner was on dries all day and had sport all day too!”
Most popular area yesterday was Gateside Bay but those with the best bags fished elsewhere in the quieter areas. Plenty of fish and swallows moving above the buzzers beds from the Pike Buoys over to Kates Brae last night. Clubs also fishing yesterday were St.Mungo (6 boats) 14 fish and 5 returned and BP 5 boats 25 fish and 7 returned.
Billy Gillan was out with Jim Christie and netted this good brown from yesterday.
We are now releasing spare boats for the National practice days (13th and 14th September). Many of the finalists have paired up and others have just booked a seat at this stage. Unpaired individuals will be paired up with other similar unpaired finalists unless they book a whole boat - which will be on a first come first served basis. One week left to get your boat (and a half) booked for your team in the Scottish Club Championship Practice Day on 20/9/18.
