In Heat number 4 on 3/5/12, 55 anglers weighed in 131 fish for 333lbs 6oz and returned a further 125, giving a rod average of 4.7 and a mean fish weight of 2lbs 9oz. 50% of the anglers went through and the cut off weight was 10lbs 4oz. Davie Downie of D&B Fly Fishing, from Port Glasgow caught his 14 fish in the Butts (to be more specific Chicken Leg Bay) on dries (9 fish) and buzzers (5 fish). Davie was fishing a 25ft cast with a booby on the point. 2nd placed

Laurie of Rainbow Warriors was also fishing in the butts and took most of his on a candy booby and midge tip line.
In the First Heat of the Scottish Club Championships sponsored by Angling Active, 16 teams competed for the 3 available club places and 5 champion of champion places. First placed team were Change A (Jock Kettles, Kevin McCabe and Andy Dunn) with 11 fish. In second place were Saltire AC (Gus Shepard, Derek Keenan and David McAllister) with 12 fish and 3rd were Roscobie Loch A with 9 fish. The 5 individuals qualifying for the Champion of Champions were Gus Shepard (Saltire) 6 fsih, Greg Donally (Craufordland) 6 fish, Jock Kettles (Change A) 6 fish, David McAllister (Saltire) 5 fish and Charlie Walls (Roscobie) 3 fish. Heaviest fish was 4lbs 8oz caught by Andy Dunn. Top areas on Saturday night were Sandy Bay and the butts. Top tactic dries.
The temperature is climbing steadily and the lilies are now at the surface. The swallows should be back anytime…...Going by the flies sticking to the boats there has been some massive buzzer hatches over the last few days.
Club Results: Middleton 7 boats 73 fish 219lbs, Dunfermline Artisans 5 boats 29 fish 72lbs, EKAC 10 boats 25 fish 66lbs plus 30+ returned, Ed Mechanised 7 boats 27 fish 82lbs, RCSL 7 boats 21 fish 49lbs, Pentland FF 4 boats 19 fish 56lbs plus 5 rtd, Scottish Ladies 7 boats 121 rtd, L&B Angling Club 15 boats 132 fish 356lbs plus 90+ rtd.
Road Closure: Stirling Council have announced they are closing the road (A81) from the Port of Menteith to the junction with the A873 (i.e. Callander turn off) from the 8th to 11th May, 9am to 5pm. It may therefore be simpler to approach the Lake from the South (i.e. via the A811 and the shore road – B8034) until they are finished.
Orvis Rod Found after National Heat on 3rd May – can owner contact fishery.   Bayne’s Boat League commences Wednesday 9th May.  Please where possible can you use/recycle your own clean plastic bags to keep your fish in – as oor bag bill is getting large. Used cloth bass bags are not allowed at the fishery.
