Lake of Menteith 8th Aug
6ft Water Temperature  18C , Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.6m.

Temperature has risen 3 degrees C in the last week and clarity remains good. Best areas remain the same (western drifts and northern drifts), particularly Gateside Bay, Stable point and Stable Point Crannog. Reports of fish in the Kates Brae and Lochend area have also been received. Successful tactics have been varied; boobies in combination with smaller flies or dries, may be worth a try. The “in the green house” feel to the weather of the last few days is captured in the shot below by Paul Barr of Strathblane.

Due to cancellations there are 4 boats available on Saturday and Sunday.

SANA OPEN FINAL: In this year’s SANA Open Final, 25 anglers landed 90 fish (all returned). The new singles champ is Graeme Connolly (pictured left). Graeme netted 10 fish on a candy booby, Diawl Bachs, and cruncher in the heronry and dog isle/stable point area. In second place with 9 fish was Chris Sutherland (he got his mainly on diawls). Third place was Scot Pozzie who also had 9 fish but lost out by 25mins on the “time of the first fish rule”. First in the pairs were Ewan Clarke and Graeme Connolly (15 fish). Pairs 2nd were Chris Sutherland and Graham Steele (14 fish) and Third were Scott Pozie and Ivie Callison.

BAYNE’S TACKLE (OF CALLANDER) BOAT LEAGUE: Brian MacKenzie won the heat on 1/8/12 with 7 fish, 2nd A.Kemp (6 fish) and 3rd R.Robb with 5. The Bayne’s tackle and Taste of the Trossach’s meal voucher went to Jack Naismith. The 16 anglers netted 44 fish. With 2 more nights to go the current leader after adjustments is George Whyte with 38 pts. In 2nd place is J.Fairlie with 42 pts and 3rd – Mark Stephens.
