LAST WEEK OF EVENING FISHING.

A quiet week at the fishery and the main action has moved around a bit but the Malling Shore, Gateside Bay and the Roadshore all featured. Some prolific patches and some periods where it has not been so easy. Catches are however generally good with average weight remaining over 3lbs and I find myself saying that the stockies are the best I’ve seen and wondering how this can be true because I have been thinking this now for some years!

Alan Ross of Edinburgh sent me this photo entitled Greylag-Canada Hybrids with the message “Seek and Ye shall find”. This might explain why some greylags have “missed the migration” but which is the hybrid and why? It’s not obvious to me, and I have had a good look at the wildfowl book.  –  Any views?

BAYNE’S TACKLE (OF CALLANDER) BOAT LEAGUE – PENULTIMATE RESULT:
20 anglers landed 35 fish. On a more difficult night most of the fish were taken in the Gateside area. Top bag Sandy had his 7 on a di 5 with two boobies, while 2nd placed Andy Kemp got 5 on dries (sedges). With only one more night remaining all top 7 anglers can do it (with the exception of Mark Steven) according to Douglas. We are planning a barbie (or indoor burgers) on Wednesday 15th - so there will be a bite to eat and a swallie while you are awaiting the presentation. Please can you let us know if you are not coming so we can guesstimate amounts and can Brian and James remember to bring the trophies.
