LOOKS LIKE THE WEATHER WILL CONTINUE TO SCUPPER THINGS ON TUESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER, SO WOULD RECOMMEND BOOKING ANOTHER DAY AS IT IS VERY UNLIKELY THAT THE FORECAST WILL CHANGE AND THAT WE WILL ALLOW THE BOATS OUT.

Abigail Montgomery from Inverness is the new Ladies National Champion. Abigail, pictured above left on right, is presented with the Ladies National Trophy by Bunty Webster. Abigail netted 8 fish, 3 more than second placed Jean Fergusson. In third place was local Elaine McCracken who had 4 fish weighing 12lbs 12oz. The ladies 22 anglers weighed in 51 fish for 139lbs and returned 6. Jane Wright had the biggest fish at 4lbs 14oz. Abigail’s tactics were a midge tip and a slow retrieve with a candy booby around Sam’s Point and the rookery. The aggregate Ladies Champion (Carron and Menteith results combined) was Dionne Roberts pictured above right with SANA President David Ogg. Squad for 2012: Abigail Montgomery, Marion Wallace, Gail Annal, Nikki Ross, Dione Roberts, Liz Fraser, Jane Wright, Jean Ferguson, Wendy Mitchell, Kellie McNie, Elaine McCracken, Ashely Quinn, Kathleen Shepherd.

This week sees the National Final at the Lake and we have one further well spread small stocking to put in on Wednesday 7th. As regulars at the Lake will know, the average size of the fish at the Lake is about 2 ¾ lbs with many fine larger individuals. John Buchanan’s fish above left, failed to revive so was taken for the pot and John Ogilvie of the  Haggis Club boated this 7lb plus fish on dabbler. During the last two weeks there has been superb action on the dry fly.
