FISHERY BLAWG - 26th May 2011; Water Temperature 11.5C, Clarity (Secchi disc 1.6m).
It was the worst wind at the Lake that staff at the fishery could remember. Luckily we only had minor damage as a result of the wind. The force and noise of the severe gale on Monday 23rd May, as it moved the mature oaks and raced across the water, will be long remembered.
Roads east and south of the Lake were blocked for several hours and the power was down for 1 or two days depending on the area. Between Lochend and the Fishery local Topher Nairn counted 13 trees down on the road. A week where the wind badly affected catches! Lot of mayfly on the water today. As we near the end of May the water temp is almost 2 degrees colder than at the end of April.
