Weekly Report 17th August 2010

Clarity 3.1m Water Temperature at 6ft 18C.

Food Van times at the Fishery next week; Every Morning (except Saturday and Sunday), for the evenings – only Wednesday. Another settled week and catches were good on Monday 16th with limit bags coming from the Malling shore area, Gateside, Rookery, International Bay and Kate’s Brae.  Most of the good bags I spoke to yesterday were on dries but buzzers, hoppers, bibios, snatchers, Cormorants, Diawl bachs and blobs and boobies will no doubt have their moments. Hopefully the heather fly will appear shortly – I was up the hill on Sunday and I have never seen so many flying ants in my life but no heather fly.

14th heat of the Menteith Boat League (sponsored by the Angling Centre Stirling): Alan Brock won it for the second week in a row and now lies in a close second position overall, behind leader Simon Littlejohn.  The 25 anglers landed 56 fish for 118lbs. The final heat will be fished tomorrow night and it is anyone’s guess as to who will pick up the league trophy, prize money and nominate a charity of their choice to receive £500. Bill Ramage and Dougie Carr won this weeks fly lines. We will be serving a beef stew and drinks while the results are being calculated tomorrow night.
