Scots win again! Well done to the Scottish International Fly Fishing Team who made it Scotland’s 3rd victory in a row at the recent Home Internationals in Wales (see detailed match report).

guillemotThis Guillemot was photographed by C.Riach at the Lake. It is not unusual to find these “sea” birds at the Lake – especially at this time of year.

The first semi of the Scottish club Championships was held at the Lake last week. The 30 boats landed 155 trout for 333lbs – a further 104 fish were returned. Top bag on the day was Mike Willis of Bridge of Allan AC with 15 fish on a slime line with a blob and two boobies in Hotel Bay. Qualifying for the Club championship final were Loanhead and Dist, Grizzlecats, Bridge of Allan, Rothes Oak, Change B, Roscobie, Kinglassie, Dunfermline Artisan and CSSA Rosyth. The cut off weight was 27lbs 5oz.

Tactics:  Calmer conditions in the past week and a rise in clarity. rab mitchellThe top drifts have been the on the north and eastern shores with outstanding individual catches taken from Hotel Bay, International Bay and Gateside. Successful methods have varied from the above to dries/hoppers and buzzers. We will be giving the date for "nets off" at Gateside Bay shortly.

We were saddened to hear today of the passing away of Scottish Disabled International Angler and friend Rab Mitchell, from Menstrie, whilst he was on holiday in Spain. Rab’s visits and his engaging personality will be greatly missed.
