Lake Fishing Report 4/8/15
Clarity 2.2 – 2.4m  6ft water temperature 15C

Again an increase in water clarity this week – don’t we have a wonderful climate. With the youth out practising for their international tomorrow and no Scottish Clubs heat at the weekend, information on hotspots is difficult to come by – “the fish are spread out”, if that is of any help. Tactics I have heard of being successful were the dry fly and the yellow owl/cdcs and slime lines and blobs. We are now into short evening shifts (finishing at 10pm).

In the Baynes Boat League Ronnie Robb was top rod with 8 fish on dries.

Some catch stats for the Lake have been requested and these will be available when the numbers have been crunched. As an element of catch and release becomes more common place at the Lake, I increasingly feel that the number of fish caught and released is not being accurately recorded by a significant proportion of visiting anglers and that as a consequence, the value of the caught but released figure is no longer as accurate.  In the meantime, the data provided from the big matches and competitions will give a good picture of total catches, from year to year – and it is 100% witnessed and accurate.

Data from the Menteith/Baynes Tackle Boat League is shown below (each night is the average of around 25 participants catches over a 5hr evening session.
