Scottish Club Championships (SCC Report by secretary Kenny Millar)
Saturday evening in Heat 7 of Scottish Club Championship saw a light easterly wind with a definite coldness. The Lake had fished well during the day to various flies and lures, including buzzers and dry fly.  One team had to withdraw due to an injury, and 11 teams contested the competition. A few boats headed to road shore, but most went westerly for Heronry, Malling shore and east side of Gateside  Bay.
Dunfermline Railway AC proved successful on the night with the team of Barry Philips, Colin McGonagle, and Davy Moore (pictured left) catching 15 trout for 33lb 14oz 2nd place fell to Lintrathen FF with 13 trout for 27lb 14oz.    Balfron Piscatorials took 3rd place with 11 trout for 26lb 15oz. These teams to semi final 21st August. In all 100 trout were caught, 57 being released for a total weight of 223lb 11oz. The top 5 rods on the night going forward to the Champion of Champions final on 9th October were:-  Gary Wilkinson Cupar AC 9 trout 20lb  9oz, Colin McGonagle Dunfermline Railway  8 trout for 17lb  6oz, Gordon Hayward Balfron Piscatorials 7 trout for 16lb 11oz, Paul Toseland Aberdeen & dist AA 7 trout for 16lb, Ian Glassford Bothwell & Blantyre AC 6 trout for 12lb  9oz.

In the BOAT LEAGUE a much harder night with the caenis again much in evidence on some drifts. Three anglers topped the catches with 5 fish a piece and when the time of first fish was taken into account.......Bill Ramage was awarded the Bayne's Tackle Voucher by Roger Drapper for his 1st place, with all his fish caught on a white cat in the cages. 2nd place was Jim Twaddle with 5 from International Bay taken on olive crunchers and a floating line. In 3rd place was Ken Oliver with 5 from Shear Point on hoppers fished wet. The 20 anglers landed 35 fish with a load of blank rods - a big change from the last few weeks. Jim Twaddle moves into first place overall.

Anglian Water Results in full next week.

MAYFLY IMITATIONS Some great hatches of mayfly in the past week. Colin Riach from Edinburgh got the dapping rod out last week and within 5 seconds of his fly hitting the water he was into this fine rainbow. Unfortunately on unhooking the fish the hook went deeply into his finger and a trip to Stirling small injuries clinic was necessary. Thanks for the photos Colin – will be giving the dapping a try soon.

Last night John Carbery from Cumbernauld was out with a similar shaped fly, fishing it dry, and netted this cracking brownie caught on a CDC tied (see below) with the help of a Dave Downie youtube session.

Ian Colligan was “officiating” in the Scottish Club Championships this Saturday and landed this cracker.
