Lake of Menteith Report 2/8/16
6ft Water Temperature   16C , Clarity (Secchi disc) 3m.

As part of our encouragement to get anglers to fill out catch returns (including returned fish) we have a fortnightly draw from the recording sheets. THIS WEEKS WINNER OF A FREE WEEKDAY BOAT FOR 2 (CATCH AND RELEASE) IS J. WALKER (K/K) from Ayrshire.
Catches were quite good in today’s overcast weather and were a bit better than in the recent bright and windy weather of recent with good bags reported from Gateside Bay, the Gap, Kate’s Brae and International Bay. Stocking rates have continued at 1000 or more over the last few weeks - despite this being our traditional quite phase, with folks being away on holiday.

Baynes Tackle Callander and Southside Decorator Boat League
It was lucky heat 13 for Jim Mckinlay when he listened to his boat partner Donnie McBeth who suggested going down to Katies Brea to Lochend  as he had a good catch last week It worked because Jim got 10 fish using blobs and cormorants on a slow glass line. 2nd was Mark Stevens with 7 fish and 3rd was John  Maestri with 6 fish. Prize this week went to Mark Stevens who got the £25 voucher from James Bayne Tackle shop. John  Maestri got the bottle of whisky from Andy smith of southside decorating and Jim McKinlay chose the towel from the Lakes range of merchendise. With only 2 weeks to go its looking like Brian Mckenzie will retain the trophy for winning the league. The 25 anglers netted 83 fish.

Scottish club Championship Heat 13 - K.Miller
Saturday night was the last heat of Scottish Club Championship and 12 teams competed. Conditions were very good at the lovely Lake of Menteith with a south westerly breeze.  As in previous heats few fish were feeding on the surface, and the boats heading out did the usual split of half going westerly to Silage pits, Malling Shore and Gateside Bay.   Other half south to International  Bay, Chapel Site and Kates Brae.  10.30pm saw end of the heat with 54 trout having been caught and 8 being released. Total weight was 122lb 12oz.    This again showed conditions had proved very hard for many anglers.  Top team on the night was Drumbowie Fly Fishers (Pictured) trio of Arthur Donaghy, Allan Daisley and Joe Lee. They had caught 8 trout for 19lb 1oz  2nd place to Falkirk Municipal AC  team of Ian Scott, Tom Sneddon and Norrie Breckonridge with 7 trout for 16lb 9oz.  3rd place to Loanhead & Dist AC team of Derek and Stuart Marklow and Dougie Johnston with 7 trout for 15lb 2.5oz.  Top 5 anglers on the night qualifying for the Champions of Champions were Ian Scott, Falkirk Municipal with 4 trout for 10lb 2.5 oz. 2nd Joe Lee Drumbowie FF with 4 trout 8lb 2oz.  3rd  Brian Lockie  Thistle AC with 3 trout for 7lb 2.5oz  4th   Ralph Fleming  Firecats  with 3 trout for 7lb 0.3oz    5th  Allan Daisley  Drumbowie FF with 2 trout for 6lb 3.7oz.
