EVENING FISHING COMMENCES AT THE LAKE

Finally we are forecast to get some warmth and I won’t need to advise people to get out the wind and coury doon at Lochend – which has been the story of the last few days. The catches have been prolific at times and the washing line (floating line with buzzers in the middle and a buoyant fly on the point) has continued to work well since producing the goods for Aly Middlemass and Allan Gamble in the recent National Championship Heat at the Lake (28/4/16; 58 anglers – 376 fish; rod average 6.5). Pulling blobs has also been effective in brighter and breezier conditions. On Saturday 30th Caley Liners landed18 fish for 44lbs and returned 59 with 6 boats, Wellington AC landed 20 for 45lbs and returned a further 78 with 5 boats. Pike Anglers Alliance Scotland returned 90 pike with 14 boats – the biggest being 17lbs. On Sunday 1st May East Kilbride AC weighed in 28 for 56lbs and returned another 63 with 10 boats. Pencaitland AC weighed in 26 for 51lbs. Mr Armstrong from Dollar (above) landed 4 fish for 12lbs 6oz – including this fine brace on Monday. Scott Young from Clydebank was out today and messaged photos of this fine brace. The bigger blue was returned.

MENTEITH BOATLEAGUE KICKS OFF WEDNESDAY 4TH MAY.
Still places left but to make it worth-while it will be best to turn up and register on the first or second night. More information on the website page under boat league. To register contact the fishery via phone, website email or facebook page. More prizes than ever this year Baynes of Callander Tackle Voucher, Bottle of Glengoyne from Southside Decorators and Lake Memorabilia courtesy (Tshirt or engraved bottle or beanie hat or hand towel) of the Lake. Best prize of all though is getting to fish with different people and have your knowledge expanded.

NEW LAKE RULE FOR BOAT SEATS
Having managed to get rid of one rule recently we find ourselves introducing another as a safety measure, to stop the occurrence of the Boat Seat Back Flip which is survivable with a lifejacket but if there is a problem with your lifejacket……As we all know it is not an unknown occurrence and is likely when the feet are off the ground or the lugs on the seat allow the boat seat to slide off centre. All persons fishing from a seat must have the seat secured at the front. As shown in the pictures below but not above! We have straps for sale (£3 each) in the shop or you can bring your own device.
