The first heat of the 2016 Scottish Club Championships was held on the evening of Saturday 7th May. A cold east wind made the fishing difficult but there were still plenty of fish to be found feeding on buzzers along the eastern side of the lake and in the lee of Arnmach. Successful tactic was the washing line with buzzers and Fabs or Boobies. 13 teams of 3 anglers competed on the night with Change FFC A narrowly coming out on top with 21 fish for a weight of 40lbs 7ozs. The team comprised Kevin McCabe, Andy Dunn and Jock Kettles. 2nd were Tartan Tyers AC A with 20 fish for 40lb 4oz. 3rd were Granite City FFC A with 16 fish for 34lb 9oz. All 3 teams quakify for the semi-finals later in the year. Top rod on the night was Scott Aitken of Tartan Tyers A with 9 fish for 18lb 9oz. He qualifies for the Champion of Champions final along with Jim McKinlay of East Kilbride AC, Kevin McCabe, Greg McLaren and Andy Dunn.Heaviest fish on the night was caught by Greg McLaren.39 rods landed 131 fish for a total weight of 258lbs 6ozs, the majority of which were returned.
