Lake of Menteith Report 25/10/16

Last stocking of our 50th year.

Today we stocked 195 big fish in the 3-8lb weight range, including some of the big browns (up to 4-5lbs) that were last to come out when we emptied the pond. We also put out  300 fish averaging 2lbs, giving a total for the week of 495. The generous end of season stocking has worked well thanks to the fine weather and the big fish should overwinter well. We are open till the 11th November.

It has been a special end to the year with some great weather and some fantastic big stockies going in, as well as access to Gateside Bay and some fine looking residents. This resident brown was captured and returned by Gordon Armstrong from Inverness and below James Litster from Kilmaurs had a nice 8lb fish.

The year and the magic of the place and the people has been brought into extra sharp focus by local photographer Paul Barr to whom we are much in debt! He even managed to catch the kingfisher which we usually only hear or see as a blue blurr.
