Northerly winds and bright days with cold temperatures and rough water on the exposed drifts (eg Lochend) in a northerly are likely to be encountered over the next few days, with hopefully a wee wind break on Thursday 28th to allow good catches for the SANACC national championship heat. The best conditions for fishing are likely to be on the sheltered shores. Cold wind aside, good catches have been coming from all areas of the water with buzzer and lure. The latter tending to be preferred by anglers in bright and breezy conditions. Stocking this week will be on Tuesday (670) and Friday (330).

George Pelini from Glasgow captured and returned this stoater, fishing a team of buzzers in Gateside last Saturday. At the weekend; Stanley AC had 23 fish for 39lbs and 6 rtd from 6 boats, Stirling Castle with 5 boats weighed in 19 for 36lbs and returned 29, Thack AC weighed in 12 for 34lbs and returned 42 from 6 boats and Hawick AC took 4 for 7lbs 5oz and returned 32, Scottish Power weighed in 22 for 45lbs with 5 boats, St Peters 6 boats, 35 fish for 61lbs and 6 rtd, Badenoch 5 boats, 28 fish 50lbs and 8 rtd, Stewarton AC 6 boats 30 fish for 59lbs and 9rtd.

Some of you may not have noticed the Landslide that occurred in the Port last winter – have a look behind the School – a contender for the most exciting thing to happen at the Port this millennium?
