Lake of Menteith Report 29/3/16
6ft Water Temp 6 C, Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.2m.

Some good fishing weather interspersed with the wet and wild weather has been enjoyed by the anglers. Catching has remained similar to that reported for opening day with overwintered being located out in the middle of the eastern basin and stockies more likely to be picked up along the fringes of the same basin from Reedy Point all the way around to Lochend. In the Last week the Butts and the Gap have also fished well. Best tactics buzzers and dries in the calm and dull, lures and deeper and faster when the weather is windy and bright.   Danny Leitch from Kilbarchan landed this impressive 6lb9oz fish yesterday on a black buzzer from “out in the middle”. On Saturday 26th Heriots netted 58 trout with 7 boats, Grizzlecats weighed in 16 for 39lbs and returned a further 30 – with 8 boats. G.whyte and S.O’Neill netted 35 and took home 4 for 13lbs and 8oz.

MENTEITH BOAT LEAGUE 2016
Entry is open and Prize money/value reaches over £2000.

The Evening Boat League will commence on 4th May and we have two new sponsers to add to Bayne’s Fishing Tackle of Callander (£600 of tackle vouchers). Andy Smith of Southside Decorators is (http://www.thesouthsidedecorator.co.uk/) is sponsoring a bottle of Glengoyne for each of the 15 nights (£500) and the Lake of Menteith Fisheries will offer up a T-shirt for each heat (£225) as well as over £400 of cash and catering. The Anglers kitty money £20/head will contribute to the £700 of cash prizes (£500 for 1st, £150 for 2nd and £50 for 3rd place). All in there will be over £2000 worth of prizes to be awarded and when it is considered that this is shared out between 30-40 anglers the prize per angler ratio can be appreciated!! Additional money (last year £262 was donated) will be allocated to the winners choice of charity. The randomised boat partner system will continue this year as the introduction of this ruling last year was seen as a very positive move (socially and for improving the skill set) by the participants. The competition will be fished to Lake rules (no maximum fly size any more!). For more information or to enter, contact Douglas or Quint (see Lake contact page), or refer to the Boat League web page.
