James Litster from the Glasgow Angling Centre and Kilmaurs returns another Lake Resident at Reedy Point – taken on a dry.
With temperatures hovering around 19C the best catches are still above the deeper waters of the Malling Shore, The Gap, Gateside Bay and Rookery. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS In the first Semi in the National Championships, Gus Armour (left middle of Loanhead AC) finished top rod with 15 fish. In second place was Ronald Gilbert of Menteith Ospreys AC(left) with 14 and 3rd placed was Tom Burnett of St.Mirin AC (on right). The cut off for qualification was 20lbs 11.8oz. The 38 anglers retained 106 fish for 226lbs and returned a further 188. Gus did well on yellow owls in Gateside.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 12 teams competed in Heat 9 of the Scottish Club Championships. As normal boats, headed for Gateside Bay (Cages) Malling shore, Heronry, Sams Point, and Rookery Point, with a lesser amount heading to road shore and Lochend. Conditions had cooled down from the previous week and good catches had been recorded the day before in the National semi final. Dry fly, crunchers,diawl bachs on washing line tactics with booby or fab on the tail were working well . 1st: Caley Liners with 17 trout.2nd: Rainbow Warriors with 11 trout 3rd: Neilston FF with 9 trout. These three clubs go through to the semi final 29th August. The individual rods on the night to go through to the Champion of Champions Final were:- 1st John Benson Caley Liners with 9 trout for 17lb 10oz. 2nd John Cree Rainbow Warriors with 7 trout for 15lb 13oz. 3rd Jim Twaddle Caurnie A.C. with 6 trout for 12lb 2 oz 4th Ronnie Robb Neilston FF with 5 trout for 10lb 8oz 5th place was a tie with Calum Brodie Dalry-Garnock and Mark Stephen Neilston FF both taking 4 trout for 10lb 6oz. These six anglers go through to the "Champion of Champions" final on 17th October. The heaviest fish on the night was caught by Mark Stephen Neilston FF and weighed in at 5lb 1oz. The captain of the top club, the angler with the best basket and the angler with the heaviest fish all received bottles of "Glen Garioch" malt whisky courtesy of sponsors Morrison Bowmore.     See OUR FACEBOOK PAGE FOR MORE NEWS AND FEATURES and www.SANACC for more detail on results.
