About the Fishery

The Lake is situated in Central Scotland, 20 minutes west of Stirling and under an hour from Glasgow or Edinburgh. It is a beautiful and natural sheltered lowland loch.

The low lying situation and indented nature of the Lake and its three islands means that it is one of the most sheltered stocked trout fishing venues in Scotland, but with a big enough expanse of water to get a ripple. It is predominantly shallow (see map) and surface fishing tactics for trout predominate. The Lake is renowned for its dry fly and buzzer fishing and for the quality of the stocked and resident trout. It is also famed for its large resident pike.

The Lake is stocked weekly , with an even distribution by boat, with top quality rainbow trout and brown trout that are reared in the location by Lake Staff.

The 34 strong fleet of well maintained hire boats is equipped with reliable outboards, oars, landing nets and drogues.

Our large fishery cabin contains a permit and tackle shop, lifejackets, wash-rooms/toilets, a gutting sink, meeting area, weigh-in hall, our offices and workshop. Tea and coffee are available and various sundries and soft drinks can be purchased from the shop.
