Was a beautiful day to have Stewart Marshall's Friends and Family at the Lake on Thursday as part of the police memorial day organised by Calum Fraser. We had some of Stewart's bramble whisky and planted an oak tree in Hotel Bay/Reedy Point in his memory.
Dries are on at the Lake today and lots of fish moving.

WE HAVE PLENTY OF BOATS AVAILABLE on the beautiful Lake of Menteith for SUNDAY 3RD DUE TO A BOOKING MIX UP. The Lake is fishing really well now and the forecast is good.. Brian Kennedy had over 50 to the net yesterday. The fish are in shallow water (less than 3 or 4 ft) and taking a variety of flies on different methods. We have increased stocking levels since we started and are now at 130% of what we stocked at this point last year. When I was out on the water yesterday it was bubbling and difficult to select a path between rising fish. The problem imho has been the fact that we had our busiest year on record last year but found ourselves short of fish due to a batch of fish which exhibited a genetic gill deformity. This led to the stocking per angler being on the low side at the back end of the year and what we had were not big fish which were preyed on by cormorants. The result ….a lack of overwi tered fish coming though into the 2026 season. Some pictures of fish stocked this week (1500 including about 500 brown trout). Sorry about the portly individual shown….not a great specimen but worthy of a photograph. I got sent this picture of a Hardies reel with Lake of Menteith 1973 stamped on it. Wonder if anyone knows the history of it? Watch out for the sea eagles. … See MoreSee Less
Shame it hadnt r been last week when we were there very very hard fishing with hardly a rise of any discription . Probably due to the cold easterly winds which had been predominantly there all week never mind that’s fishing . The wild life made up for it . Look forward to our next trip to Montieth love the place . It’s good travel from Carlisle would certainly recommend it 💙🙏

Yesterday saw a chilly, misty start which soon burnt off to become a glorious warm day.
The fly life is responding to the heat and fish were seen to be cruising around the various shallow areas feeding away.
They seemed to feeding on small buzzers as well as little beetles around a size 16.
