The final of the SANACC Champion of Champions for 2026 was held at the lake on Friday. The top 6 competitors from each of the 10 heats headed out to see who would be the winner.
The day started off with a relatively gentle breeze but the wind got up during the day, providing some challenging conditions.
The match was fished to rules with one fish being retained with 2lbs being awarded for each returned fish. A total of 228 fish were caught and of the 51 fish weighed, 20 were over 3lbs in weight.
The winner on the day was Allan Barbour of Firecats FF with 14 fish for 29lbs, 14.7ozs. He received a voucher for £100 from My Fishing Flies and £250 provided by McLanachan Transport.
2nd place went to Nigel Burns of Strathleven FF with 11 fish for 23lbs 11.3ozs. He received £100 provided by McLanachan Transport.
3rd Place went to David Wales from Select FF with 11 fish for 22lbs 2.1ozs. He also received £100 provided by McLanachan Transport.

Yesterday wasnt easy with a few individual good bags (Stewart Inglis had 13) but harder than it should be…probably due to clarity (1.6m on the secchi Disk and 14c at 6ft), which isn't great just now due to a green algae in the top 2m.
