Our official 2026 opening day is Saturday 14th March. All those lucky enough to get a boat on the 14th have been notified. We will be shut for the first two weeks of March so we can concentrate on tidying up our winter work and getting new fish stocked before we open. The bung fishing has carried on over the winter with some fantastic over-wintered fish in the baskets. Derek Barclay was a contendor for best fish picture in the opening week of 2025.

Belated congratulations to Graeme Strang on the capture of this magnificent 31lb fish on a 30cm rubber shad last Sunday. Graeme was fishing with the Menteith Pike lure club which is officially now in its second year. The rules are the same as for the PAAS lure events (I checked with them) and it's committee invite only. Anglers who fly fish for pike are well represented in the club. Thinking about making this more structured for next winter (ie collect vouchers every time you fly fish to get brownie points for the lure club). The cost is the same as that charged to PAAS for their lure days. It is cheaper than bait days as it is a less effective method than bait and also because the dangers of deep hooking are largely eliminated. The demand for Lure fishing appears to be massive but we have limited the pike lure club outing to 2 for this season with about a dozen boats for each outing. … See MoreSee Less
I remember fishing the booby for the trout and thought I had hit a snag on bottom between the cages and the rookery, then the line shot out my hands and a pike of similar size tail walked, played it for a bit bit but got broken or chewed though. Was some buzz on the fly rod.
Could argue summer fly fishing for the pike is much worse than bait fishing in winter. Also lure fishing can cause just as much damage or more than bait fishing at times seen this first hand sometimes I think we forget we drag fish out of the water with a hook either way
Belter of a croc π
Great catch well done some amount of jealousy over it I can see ? Can’t see how a couple lure days is going to affect the bait days ? If that fish wasn’t caught no one would of bothered about it?
Will you reduce the prices of the bait days now that you're allowing people to pike fish it a couple of weeks before the dates?
Now we know where all the rainbow trout are going π€£
How many trout has that eat
